Spread over more than 600 sq. km, Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve is one of the major National Parks in Maharashtra, and one of the upcoming wildlife hotspots in India. Located in the wildlife-rich region of central India, this teak-covered forest is the perfect hiding hole for the world’s largest big cat. Apart from the tiger, spectacular wildlife such as leopards, sloth bears, nilgai are also found in Tadoba.
This flourishing ecosystem also supports the Gond tribal community, one of Maharashtra’s many tribes. To give you a more hands-on, rustic experience, we will spend quality time with the locals living in villages close to the sanctuary, getting to know the nitty-gritties of their lives. Through our interactions with them, we will make new friends and gain valuable insight into their lives as we sit under a starlit sky, enthralled by their stories. They have the most astonishing jungle experience to narrate, for the jungle that we all love so much, is their home!

Kanha. The lengthening evening shadows. A cup of warm chai and never-ending conversations. This is how Footloose Journeys began.
Bablu, our driver in Kanha, was talking with unprecedented fervor. The jungle, traversed all day in the open-top safari, was coming alive once again. Bablu’s words were painting a picture unseen to the tourists. It was not that he had been reticent before. No one had bothered to ask.
The guides and drivers that unravel the mysteries of the forests often remain nameless. Hidden behind the veil of professional tourism, the real contributors to the forest perform a thankless job. It was the desire to repay their unspoken debt that got us started on Footloose. We are passionate travellers who believe that there is more to travelling than just “visiting” a place! We believe that travelling is more than just a bunch of tick-marks on the list of places you wish to visit. We believe that a traveller should try and understand the place rather than just be there. And with this credence, we aim at adding social values to tourism – for the benefit of both the visitors and the hosts!
Co-founder and instructor at Footloose Journey, Paresh is a Naturalist! He believes that travelling or experiencing new places is not complete unless and until the local communities are understood, even lived. He strives to introduce everyone around him to the way of living of the inhabitants of the places. With his dare-devil attitude and jocularity, he is the life of the team! Having him around on expeditions is a time spent in mirth and wonder. Wildlife Photographer | Developing community oriented tourism models at various destinations in India. | People & conservation.
One of the first volunteers of the team. An avid nature lover, his keen interest in the natural world has taken him to some of the most remote places in India at a very young age. He has chosen environmental studies as his academic interest as well. He regularly volunteers with researchers and even regional Forest Departments for conservation related studies and surveys. Travelling has earned him quiet a handful of knowledge, and that shows on the camps! Since he loves to connect with people, he makes sure that he makes close friends wherever he travels!
