It’s time to leave the road and take the trails toward rejuvenation with the ultimate beauty of Kunti Betta. Trek up the hill and witness a sunrise that will renew the life in you. Though leaving the road is not that easy here’s just a small route to enter the trails, a 130 km drive on the Mysore road towards Mandya and then a right turn, past sugar cane plantations with the characteristic smell of jaggery plants, will take you to Pandavapura. The Pandavas are said to have ended their 14-year long exile here, hence the name Pandavapura. With its steep rock faces and a stone pillar on its summit, Kunti Betta (950 m) is hard not to notice from here. A short drive from Pandavapura to the temple at the base, and then a stair climb and you are on the trail to Kunti Betta

With its challenging yet interesting trails, naturally sheltered summit and close proximity to the Thonnur lake (you can trek down to the lake for a dip), Kunti Betta is an excellent trek for both the absolute novice* hoping to take up serious trekking, as well as for the seasoned trekker wanting to do a more laid back trek over the weekend.

Breakfast

Starting from your individual pick-up locations in Bangalore, your journey with Plan The Unplanned toward Kunti Betta begins around 10:30 PM. Make sure you get enough rest the night before because, owing to our engaging and engaging trek guides, the nearly four-hour bus travel to Pandavapura will be gone in a flash.

When you arrive, your trek leaders will give you a quick introduction to the area and our strict no-littering policy before you start the ascent to the peak. After passing the temple at the bottom, the first stretch entails ascending a flight of about 100 stairs, which is followed by a brief stroll towards the trail's beginning. The true ascent begins from here and requires navigating over large rocks and treacherous slopes, making it an exciting climb that is suited for even inexperienced hikers.

The higher of the two hillocks, Kunti Betta, is identified by a pillar that can be seen from a distance. To reach it, one must ascend and descend the original false peak. Paddy and sugarcane farms may be seen from the peak in breathtaking panoramas. The gorgeous Thonnur lake is nearby and is also visible. After arriving, give your drained legs some well-deserved rest, fuel up with a filling packed lunch, and take in the spectacular views. Before you begin your descent back to the base, our trek leaders will give you the opportunity to try out some thrilling challenges. We then continue back to Bangalore, where we anticipate arriving around 2:00 PM.

An excellent opportunity to spend a day in the outdoors with some pleasant company is provided by Plan The Unplanned on the relatively simple trip to Kunti Betta, which is suited for both novice and expert hikers.

What’s life without adventure? Isn’t the real purpose of life to travel, to experience new places, and witness the sunrise from new mountaintops? This thought is what united Jatin and Tarun over a cup of chai, in spite of being from two unrelated backgrounds (CA and IT). They knew each other since the time Jatin was helping Tarun learn the ways of the wilderness through weekend treks and outings with another traveling group. Their love for traveling and trekking together motivated them to start something of their own. Thus was born “Plan The Unplanned”, where travel goals come true. Under the Companies Act, Plan The Unplanned is incorporated as Unplanned Journeys Private Limited They started their journey on unsteady ground, much like any other company, but they shared an infatuation for travel and adventure with their customers, which amplified their determination, and thus, Plan the Unplanned family keeps getting bigger every day! Just about any travel idea can come alive with Plan The Unplanned…treks, adventure activities like rock climbing, kayaking, rafting, backpacking trips across the country, cultural outings, photo walks; everything that fellow travelers need, to explore the great outdoors together. Well now that the wanderlust has kicked in and you can already see a vacation in your nearest future, here’s what we have to offer!
