The jungle is a mystic place. It has its own persona, its own way of maintaining order, and its own set of rules. The law of the jungle is strict and, from bug to beast, it is common for all- survival of the fittest! Even so, it thrives and expands in ways beyond our imagination; so is the case with Kanha! Lush green sal forests, dense bamboo population, vast expanses of meadows, and the frequent presence of water bodies create a scenic landscape. Together, they make up for a whopping One Thousand Nine Hundred and Forty Five square kilometers of wildlife haven! It was the mesmerizing beauty and rich wildlife of Kanha that inspired Rudyard Kipling in creation of his timeless classic, The Jungle Book! It was here, in the mystical land of Kanha, where they all came alive: Mowgli, the jungle boy; Baloo, the Sloth Bear; Bagheera, the black panther; Haathi, the Indian Elephant; and finally, Sher Khan, the Royal Bengal Tiger! So a trip into this wonderland is nothing but exciting!
We will also be exploring the tribal culture of Baigas in our visit. Being the jungle men, their lives have always been closely associated with Mother Nature and they know the jungle inside out! After all, it is their home! We will be visiting their village and learning about their ways of living.
With the tribals come tribal art! On our camp, we will meet some extraordinary artisans and
will interact with them to get insights into lives of Baigas.

Kanha. The lengthening evening shadows. A cup of warm chai and never-ending conversations. This is how Footloose Journeys began.
Bablu, our driver in Kanha, was talking with unprecedented fervor. The jungle, traversed all day in the open-top safari, was coming alive once again. Bablu’s words were painting a picture unseen to the tourists. It was not that he had been reticent before. No one had bothered to ask.
The guides and drivers that unravel the mysteries of the forests often remain nameless. Hidden behind the veil of professional tourism, the real contributors to the forest perform a thankless job. It was the desire to repay their unspoken debt that got us started on Footloose. We are passionate travellers who believe that there is more to travelling than just “visiting” a place! We believe that travelling is more than just a bunch of tick-marks on the list of places you wish to visit. We believe that a traveller should try and understand the place rather than just be there. And with this credence, we aim at adding social values to tourism – for the benefit of both the visitors and the hosts!
Co-founder and instructor at Footloose Journey, Paresh is a Naturalist! He believes that travelling or experiencing new places is not complete unless and until the local communities are understood, even lived. He strives to introduce everyone around him to the way of living of the inhabitants of the places. With his dare-devil attitude and jocularity, he is the life of the team! Having him around on expeditions is a time spent in mirth and wonder. Wildlife Photographer | Developing community oriented tourism models at various destinations in India. | People & conservation.

I went for Song of the Saplings event with Footloose Journeys. It was an incredible experience, getting knees deep in mud and planting rice. We even played around in a small waterfall.
